" The basic principle underpinning the Code of Practice is that alcohol is not an ordinary household product despite being sold in many convenience stores, supermarkets and service stations. As a result, the Irish retail industry drew up this Voluntary Code on the responsible retailing of alcoholic products, and 

committed to the Minister and Department of Justice and Equality, and to the Minister and Department of Health and Children, that it be implemented in full by all participants.

 

The Code went live on December 1st, 2008"

The RRAI

RRAI Training Online

 

RRAI Training is a 90 minute fully interactive on-line programme.

 

Who Should Participate?

 

This course is built for all staff selling alcohol products in shops, petrol stations, supermarkets, convenience stores, delicatessens and specialty food stores. 

 

 

What does RRAI Training cover?

 

The RRAI Training Programme is an interactive, online program designed to inform staff about thier obligations under the RRAI Voluntary Code of Practice which has been agreed by the mixed trading sector.

 

Course Content:     

             

  • Alcohol - the product and it's definition

  • Health factors including blood alcohol concentration (BAC)

  • Alcohol and the Law - obligations of owners and staff

  • Sale, display & advertising of alcohol products

  • I.D. Checking

  • Handling difficult situations

  • Incidents and reporting
